Game over

Games just finished , England running out winners 23-13, stretching away at 70 mins. Englands bench was stronger today.

From a trading point of view the lesson is to set a statedy before the game and stick to it. In this case take 20% profit when it was on offer.

Good game of rugby!

Traded Out

32 minutes on the clock, score 6-10 to France, odds are now 1,62 England and 2,88 France.

I've traded out for my 20 %, i expect the game to be nip and tuck all the way with england taking it.

As i type England 9-10.....

Eng v France

Just looking at the Betfair prices for the game, England are at 1,37 at the moment, France 4,2.

I see the logic based on results but i think the game is going to be closer than the odds suggest. I don't usually trade on anything but football but i'll be laying England before the start and looking to trade out with a 20% profit. I think England will win but the game will be tight until 60 minutes or so. France have been slaughtered by their own press during the week and have got a point to prove, their team has 7 changes from the last 2 games. The past shows that France are at their best when least expected to perform.

Resources

For those that are wondering about how to look at possible matchups i thought i'd throw this link in

soccervista

There are loads of stats sites out there, most earn their money from sign up to the bookies advertised on the page. I tend to use this site for comparison, past recent results and previous meetings. After looking at the teams and recent history i'll see if any games roughly fit my criteria. Afterwards i'll take a look at the BBC website for any news of injuries etc before making any final decisions on whether to put my hard earned cash on the line.

Video about Billy Walters Just watched this interesting video about Billy Walters, king of sports betting.

Discipline

Nothing on interest on the coupon today. Just thought i'd share a few thoughts today, leading on from yesterday. I've been messing around with betting and trading (there is a big difference) for about 8 years now. In the early years i thought that more was best. If the odds suited me i would go for the trade. The problem with this stategy is that before long it will lead to a losing day, the question is how to deal with a losing day! Some schools of thought say you should double up to win the losses back, others say ignore the loss and stick to the stategy. My own experience is that both stategies will work fine as long as the picks are good, and you don't fall into the expensive trap of just betting on the next available game to get your money back asap. Discipline is key! Before any given day i will have earmarked a number of games that are worth trading, sometimes 2-3, sometimes none. If there aren't any games then i leave it alone and get on with the rest of the day! I will not deviate from my original list during the day to try to recoup losses- it's very tempting to jump on the next game after taking a hit. After a loss i usually get off the laptop for a while and do something else for a while.

Time to start blogging again

Well i see that it's been a while since using the blog, time to pull my finger out i think! The last couple of years i've been playing around with forex trading with mixed success to be honest. Being honest with myself it was a bit hit and miss for me personally, the temptation is to slap yourself on the back after a good trade but blame the market after a losing trade - the danger being not learning from the mistake (whatever it was). The result is that i'll be concentrating on the football for the time being, going back to what works best. I suppose that there's a lesson there somewhere... These days i trade larger amounts but not as often. I think in the early days i traded far too often, giving part of the profits back. I'll try to post when and if i trade and running results.
